Happy July, everyone!
It’s been a rainy summer so far, but I hope that you’re finding time to get outside, get to the lake, take in a Bombers game and enjoy the sunshine when it makes an appearance. It’s hard to believe we’re over halfway through 2024 already.
I hope that this once-monthly Email is continuing to bring value to you in your role as a business leader. If at any time you would like to be removed from this mailing, just reply with a ‘not for me’.

Cybersecurity / Tech News
It seems like all the major tech platforms are looking for ways to incorporate AI into their various apps and services. While Apple is taking its time and launching ‘Apple Intelligence’ in beta this fall, Microsoft recently had to walk back its planned ‘Recall’ solution. Recall was designed to take a snapshot of your computer activity every 5 seconds. As you can guess, the company faced massive backlash over privacy and cybersecurity concerns, especially after researchers proved the repository of images could be easily hacked. So for now, Recall has been recalled (groan).

The big cybersecurity news of the month was the attack against CDK global, provider of software to over 15,000 automotive dealerships. Ransomware gang ‘Blacksuit’ has taken responsibility. The attack crippled dealerships for days. CDK is rumoured to have paid a ransom in the ‘tens of millions’ in order to begin restoring clients’ systems.

Summertime also means more the kids are out of school. While not everyone reading this is a parent, many of you are, myself included. I thought for this month’s email I would include one of the most impactful parenting tips I’ve ever received. It comes in a TED video from Dr. Becky Kennedy and it talks about the power of repair. You don’t have to be a parent to get value from this one – it’s true for any relationship. I promise it’s worth your time to watch.

PWC conducts an annual ‘Trust Survey’. While this year’s survey has been out for a few months, there are some important takeaways here. Most importantly, how trust can directly impact a company’s bottom line, and the ‘trust gap’ that exists between executives, clients, and employees.
