Should you pay the ransom?
While I hope that no business finds themselves held hostage in ransomware situation, it does happen. There have been several efforts recently to ensure a ‘no concession / no payment’ approach to ransomware, including attempts to make payments illegal and exclude them from cyber liability insurance coverage. While these tactics are designed to remove the financial incentives for attackers, they create difficulties for businesses where decryption may be their fastest or only hope for recovery.
